Northop Panto
Not itself a Church event, but involving and supported by a number of church members, the annual Northop Presents Panto was a great success. Congratulations to all involved in an excellent Robin Hood.
Remembrance Exhibition
Remembrance Sunday 2014 was a memorable occassion, attended by around 300 people. The SIlver Band played, the Scouts and Brownies led a procession through the village and took part in the service and Viv Williams from flintshirewarmemorials.com told the moving story of Lt Neville Astbury who died 16th Sept 1916.
The service also launched the exnibition, housed in the church for the month of November, and open 10am to 4m daily. Pupils from Sychdyn School, Northop Hall School and Ysgol Owen Jones have been researching the lives of the men commemorated on the War Memorial in the Church from their three communities. Their work, and additional research carried out by Vivien and Eifion Williams of flintshirewarmemorials.com, will be on display in the church. We were keen for the exhibition to commemorate the lives of these men as well as their deaths. Through it, we hope that vistors to the church can feel a connection to a generation of young men lost from our community, and remember them not only as soldiers but simply as people, at this historic centenary. The church is also seeking donations at the exhibition to restore a Roll of Honour, on view in the church, on which the names of all who were deployed were written at the time so that the parish could pray for them. Each casualty was then marked with a cross. It is a poingnant tribute to those who died and those who returned a hundred years ago. You can download presentations by pupils from Sychdyn School and Northop Hall School here. Northop Hall School Harvest
It was lovely to host NH School's Harvest Festival in St Mary's in October. Each year group presented different aspects of Harvest, including songs and poems and we learned about Harvest round the world and through time. In the photos, you can see members of the school council with some of the harvest gifts, which are given to elderly local residents.

Cenentary celebration for St Mary's Church Northop Hall
A choral evensong was held at St Mary’s Church Northop Hall on Sunday 5th August to celebrate the centenary of the consecration of St Mary’s church, Northop Hall. The church was consecrated on 23rd of April 1912.
The centenary evensong was led by the then vicar of Northop Parish, the Rev. Ray Billingsley and sung by the choir of St Eurgain’s church, Northop.
The parishioners of Northop Hall arranged a buffet refreshment which was shared by the congregation of over 50 at the end of the service. It was a very happy moment to see the specially baked celebration cake cut by the doyenne of Northop Hall, Lillian Edgington who at 100 years old is the contemporary of the church.
